5 VIP features in Facebook

This post will focus on the important... rather VIP features that are used in Facebook by the users in the daily routine from logging in to Facebook till they log out.

This post is not to sum up all the features of Facebook, but to list out some important features that we use in our day to day life.

Below listed are the 5 features that can be called as VIP ones in Facebook

News Feed : Give it a thought for a while, when we log in to our Facebook account, what features we use? We will first check out what is new in the News Feed. Right? So that will update with what is happening in our friends' day to day life.

Graph Search :  How about searching for our new friends in Search Box feature? Adding them is the another. Searching specifically in the local area friends like, friends who studied in my college.Using this feature you can find more specific in the specific area of your choice. More deep searching according to your likes.

TimeLine: Looking in others Timeline . See what our best friend has done recently. Has he posted a new picture or liked some others posts or updates. Some share their story in the Timeline, when you were born, what you have done in graduation , what are your likes and dislike, which movies you have seen, which music you like the most.

Like Button / option : Did you forget Like button or option ? How about liking someone's profile photo or any status updates with some comments.

Chatting is the most used feature in Facebook. This feature is loved by all. Use of chat emotions, use of codes, use of smileys , etc to make more fun while chatting. When it comes to this feature, you can use this feature directly without Facebook on your desktop or on mobile.

A roundup of some great Facebook features

When the great social media giant, Facebook started its journey, it was unaware about its long long walk. Today it is the first and probably the king of all social media or social networking sites that we have online. There are many to list out, like Twitter, Google Plus, Bebo, Orkut, hi5, Stumble Upon, etc. This list is never ending.

Has any one thought of what is going to be the next happening in Facebook? Daily, there is some or the other developments that the team of Facebook developers make. Useful and exciting changes makes Facebook more lovely.
Let us explore this in some of the latest updates in the world of Facebook:
Recently, two major changes in the News Feed Algorithm were announced, named as Story Bumping and Last Actor. Before that some one or two months back, Facebook Home was introduced to the public, which is working well.

Apps were introduced, small options were introduced, PIPE was again a major initiative. All these initiatives made Facebook more user friendly. How can we forget Graph Search? It is also one of the ways that we can search according to our wants or happenings or some specific things related to our near ones that Google will never display. For instance, if you wanted to find out answers to a query like, "My friends who married in the year 2010", then can Google answer this query? No, that feature was introduced in Facebook, as Google does not have access to your personal information.

Facebook also borrowed the Hashtags feature from Twitter. "Hashtags" work like important keywords. If someone wants to search the word that you provided with a symbol, "#", then it will work like a keyword and if anyone is searching for posts related to that word, then your page will be displayed. That's the miracle behind Hashtags.

Facebook also has a cool feature called "Sorting" in status updates, which allows one to sort the comments in any post.
Who can forget the Trusted Contacts option? Well, never forget this option as this will act as your secret holder that will inform you about your lost password if you do so.
Tagging, is another great funny feature that allows us to tag friends even in the status updates with the use of the "@" sign . Some minor ones like creating photo collages of your friends and your photo albums in different shapes, scheduling future status updates , sending SMS from Facebook for free, finding out who has unfriend you without your knowledge,  tracking location feature, Facebook security, accessing GMAIL from Facebook, etc are some of the other features that make Facebook very interesting.

Also who can forget the famous, Fan Pages? Businessmen , Film stars, Artists, all are active online now instead of waiting for long and getting the comments later. This feature makes some people earn money by selling their product on the fan pages.
I am also curious about a robot called, Facebook Robot? What will it do? How can it help me in accessing Facebook? If anyone has a clue, please let me know. Look forward to your comments

Facebook's "Last Actor" feature - for displaying in News feed

Recently, the team of Facebook, announced two major announcements which is made in the Facebook's News Feed Algorithm. One of them is "Story Bumping" feature which allows you to find out what has been updated in your online Facebook absence. Those updates will be displayed that you haven't gone through.

Another one in the list is "Last Actor" feature. If you want to know want to know what are the last transactions you made in Facebook, then this feature will be a great advantage for you. One will know the last 50 people you have interacted with in your Facebook account.

A question arises in mind is whether this feature is available for both mobile and web, then that goes without saying that this option of Last Actor is found on both the platforms, web and mobile devices too.

The team of Facebook is bringing more and more to the social media giant to give more and more features for the users to be at ease.

Story Bumping feature - Important change in the Facebook's news feed

Have you missed some of the news feed updates when you logged in Facebook last time? There may be some important status updates that you may have missed. Many log in to Facebook daily with the Gmail account. Before they begin the work online and also after they close the computer. If they find some updates missed which was done last time after you logged off from Facebook account, then there is no information available for you to make effort to find. The updates will be there itself in the old stories, but you will not be informed.
Say for example, you have logged in last night and after that it is 4 noon, till that time, if your friends have posted something exciting in the news feed , then it will be below the page or at the bottom of the page or will be in the older stories.

What a basic human tendency is, to read the upper part and sometimes we don't scroll down fully the news feed. So what happens is most of the updates in the news feed are unseen. To improve this, the Facebook team has recently announced the "Story Bumping" feature, that will solve this problem.

What happens is , with the change in the news feed algorithm, what you have missed can be read on the page. The Story Bumping  will go through what are the latest updates in the news feed you have missed and will display with time and date in front of you .

Look at the feature being displayed below:

In the News feed, what Facebook will do is it will remind you that which stories or updates you have not seen or gone through. The slight change in the News Feed Algorithm , made every possible way to roll around the status updates.

The daily routine of checking what's happening in the Facebook of any individual will be mostly, looking what others have posted, what are the comments others have written, which photo has got more likes, which story or update has been most shared etc.

If we look at this new feature that is introduced by Facebook, which is Story Bumping feature, many will not miss any single status updates or images being shared by others.

So, the latest in the world of Social media is Story bumping and two others which will be updated in my next post in this blog.

There is again a new feature that is announced recently, called as "Last Actor". To know about it, visit the post.
So keep using story bumping and other features in Facebook. There is lots more to come.
